Hype Ranking: Who's Hot, Who's Not ?
January 5, 2005
It's been a while since we checked the Hype Ranking in depth. Let's see what has happened since last time.

No surprise, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is still topping the ranking with 182 points and a stunning 73 points margin. Number 2 and 3, we find the first Naruto game and Harvest Moon: Poem of Happiness ("Magical Melody", yuack !), both of which have managed to reach the 100 points mark.

Close to that achievement as well is Captain Tsubasa, the soccer-inspired manga, and Naruto 3. Anime games are as popular as ever in the Hype Ranking ! Yes, even more than Nintendo games which occupy the three last spots: F-Zero GX, Battalion Wars and Super Smash Bros. Melee. As for number 6 and 7, we find two other famous but non-Nintendo game series, Harvest Moon and Megaman X, with Another Wonderful Life and Command Mission.

There have been significant increases since last time, one major change also being Zoids VS III and Starfox Assault leaving the top 10 to be now respectively number 12 and number 14.

Happy New Year 2006 !
January 5, 2005
The year has been reset, we have to start all over again. The same might apply to Samurai Nintendo in 2006, as we will see the end of the GameCube and the rise of the Revolution (last year we saw the rise of the imperfect; the Xbox 360, not the stupid EA game). What's next with our site ? So far, a stand-by. We'll continue covering nonchalantly the GameCube news, without yet moving to the Revolution news.

Unless personal matters come to interfere, I will decide within the year whether 1/ building a new Samurai Nintendo website for the Revolution, whether 2/ adapting the current site to the Revolution, whether 3/ sticking to the GameCube coverage which implies letting the site die (though I'll keep adding game information), for now. It really depends on what will happen to me this year at a personal level and at the moment it is simply impossible to figure out.

If the website is redesigned for the Revolution, then you can expect some radical changes. From a technical point of view, this time it will be in php, not just a html layout. It sure will be a lot of work though, so if we jump in the bandwagon, don't expect it before later this year.

A happy new year to all of you Nintendo fans and hopefully a wonderful creative year for Nintendo teams !
